Why We Love Them
Essential oils are packed full of powerful properties for mind, body, and soul! Turn your bath into a spa-like destination, create a dreamy massage oil, or scent a room with a fragrance that not only smells amazing but also uses the natural power of essential oils to support your wellbeing.
How To Use
These essential oils can be used to create an aromatherapy bath experience by adding up to 6 drops per bath. The drops can also be dispersed in a tablespoon of coconut oil or sweet almond oil then added to your bath, to give your skin a boost of hydration.
Add up to 5 drops of the blend to 10 ml (2 teaspoons) of carrier oil to create a fragrant massage oil. For a facial massage blend, add no more than 2 drops of essential oil per 10ml of carrier oil. Some great carrier oils for massage are apricot kernel oil, sweet almond oil, or jojoba oil.
Use 3 to 5 drops of the oil blend in a diffuser to create a sleep-inducing effect before bedtime.
Essential Oil Safety
Although natural products, essential oils are extremely potent and are in fact a highly concentrated blend of many chemical components. Please use them with care and always keep out of the reach of children and pets.
Here are some FAQ's about essential oil use and safety we recommend that you read before using essential oils.
Can I use this blend neat on the skin?
Essential oils should not be used neat on the skin, as they are highly concentrated and could potentially cause a negative skin reaction. Essential oils should either be diluted into a blending oil, unfragranced lotion or cream.
Can they be ingested?
Ingesting essential oils for medicinal use or using them in cookery is potentially very hazardous and is not something that we would ever recommend. The human digestive system is used to processing essential oils in minute amounts in herbs and spices, and this is safe practice; however, any essential oil is at least 100 times more concentrated than found in a herb or a spice, which can cause irritation and internal damage to the digestive tract.
Are they safe to be used on children?
We do not recommend using essential oils on children under 3 years old.
For children aged 3-6 years old, no more than 2 drops of essential oil per 10ml of blending oil should be used.
For children aged 6-15 years old, no more than 4 drops of essential oil per 10ml of blending oil should be used.
Children over 15 years old can be treated using 5 drops of essential oil in every 10ml of blending oil.
When shouldn't essential oils be used?
Consult your healthcare professional before using essential oils during pregnancy. If considered safe, we have further information in the FAQ below.
If you have a skin condition, epilepsy, asthma, blood pressure irregularities or are taking prescribed medication, please seek medical guidance before using essential oils.
Are they safe for use during pregnancy?
Some essential oils can be used in pregnancy after the first trimester (12 weeks).
You should only use a 1% blend which is 1 drop of Essential Oil per 5ml of blending oil.
You should NEVER put essential oils neat on the skin or ingest the oils at any time, but particularly while pregnant.
The following essential oils can be used throughout pregnancy and cover many pregnancy complaints.
> Lavender, Lavandula angustifolia
> Roman Chamomile, Anthemis nobilis
> Mandarin, Citrus reticulata
> Frankincense, Boswellia carterii
> Geranium, Pelargonium graveolens
Are they safe for use around pets?
Caution should always be taken when using essential oils around pets, and should never be applied to animals without the advice of a qualified aromatherapist or veterinary specialist.
Diffusing with pets:
Extra caution should be taken when diffusing essential oils in a home with cats. Cats have very sensitive livers and cannot easily tolerate essential oils. If diffusing in a house with cats ensure periods of diffusing are kept to a minimum and that the room you are diffusing in is well ventilated
